A simpler wayto stop smoking.

Personalised hypnotherapy for stopping smoking and vaping.

Not an ex-smoker.A non-smoker.

An ex-smoker still misses cigarettes and vapes, and will often replace them with food, alcohol, coffee or something else. A non-smoker doesn’t give them a second thought.

It’s the difference between a feeling of deprivation and a feeling of freedom. Hypnotherapy changes the way you think about smoking, so that not smoking is the most natural thing for you to do.

Meet Susannah

Clinical hypnotherapist since 2003.

I’m Susannah Saunders. For over 20 years I’ve worked with addiction and habits, in the NHS and in private practice.

My training spans psychology, CBT, neuroscience, psychotherapy and several forms of hypnotherapy. I was awarded the Senior Qualification in Hypnotherapy Practice (SQHP) from the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council, and the HPD from the National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH).

“My approach is solution-focused. Rather than going back over the past, each session focuses on how you want to think and feel as a non-smoker.”

More information

London stop smoking hypnotherapy

For anyone who wants the detail.

Stop smoking and vaping with hypnotherapy

Susannah Saunders is a London clinical hypnotherapist with over 20 years’ experience of working with smoking, vaping and addiction. Her stop smoking hypnotherapy programme draws on psychology, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and clinical hypnotherapy, and every session is tailored to the person taking part.

Online hypnotherapy sessions

Stop smoking hypnotherapy sessions take place by video call on Zoom, so you can take part from home, wherever you are in London, the UK or abroad. Many people find it easier to relax in familiar surroundings. All you need is a comfortable place to sit or lie down and a good internet connection.

Clients join from across London, including the City, Shoreditch, Holborn and the West End.

Regaining control

Stopping smoking is about regaining control rather than giving something up. The aim is for you to feel calm and satisfied as a non-smoker, without feeling deprived and without replacing cigarettes with food or anything else. No unrealistic promises are made. Hypnotherapy needs your motivation and an open mind, and it does not work for everyone.

Do you need willpower?

Stopping smoking takes commitment and an open mind, because hypnosis cannot be forced on anyone. But it does not rely on willpower alone. Willpower means fighting the habit all day. Hypnotherapy works on the habit itself, so that not smoking feels natural.

What is smoking cessation?

Smoking cessation simply means stopping smoking. People try many methods, including nicotine patches, gum and inhalators, e-cigarettes, or willpower alone. Hypnotherapy is a different approach, working with the habits and associations that keep someone smoking. Whatever the method, the decision to stop needs to be your own.

Fees and sessions

The stop smoking hypnotherapy session lasts about an hour and costs £300, including your personalised recording to listen to at home. The caveat to this is if smoking or vaping is a crutch for another issue, like anxiety or depression. In those instances I would always recommend we address these underlying challenges first.

Will I put on weight if I stop smoking?

Weight gain is a common worry for people who want to stop smoking. Because the approach aims to leave you feeling satisfied as a non-smoker rather than deprived, there is no gap to fill with food. If weight is a concern, it can be discussed in your session.

Hypnosis smoking cessation success rate

People often ask about the success rate of hypnosis for smoking cessation. Published figures vary, and results depend so much on each person’s motivation that no success rate is quoted here. Every session is tailored to the individual, and results vary from person to person.

What is hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a natural state of focused relaxation. You stay aware and in control throughout, and you cannot be made to do anything against your will. In this relaxed state, the subconscious mind is more open to suggestions that support the changes you want to make.

Your smoking habits

Do you smoke with your first coffee, on the way to work, after meals, on the phone or when you are stressed? These associations are what make smoking automatic. Your consultation looks at your own patterns, so the hypnotherapy can address the habits and triggers that are relevant to you.

The London practice

The practice address is City Hypnotherapy Centre, Longcroft House, 2–8 Victoria Avenue, Bishopsgate, London EC2M 4NS, a short walk from Liverpool Street station. Susannah founded her London practice in 2003, and stop smoking sessions take place by Zoom.

Qualifications

Susannah holds a BSc (Hons) in Psychology and diplomas in curative, clinical and solution focused hypnotherapy. She holds the Senior Qualification in Hypnotherapy Practice (SQHP) from the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council and the HPD from the National Council for Hypnotherapy, and is registered with the General Hypnotherapy Register.
